Frankfurt International Airport (Germany)

Planning and Coordination of Operational Processes

Since 2007

Frankfurt International Airport Logplan was contracted by Fraport to provide the operational project management and start-up coordination for the redevelopment of Concourse B and the new development of Concourse A-Plus. As part of these projects, Logplan is responsible for the planning of all operational processes during and after construction.

For each construction phase of the projects we have collected all necessary information, developed an integrated operational manual and assured an on time information flow to all of the different stakeholders. The operational manual comprises of information about the construction sequence, gate and position usage, baggage processes and traffic patterns for passengers, PRM and airport personnel.

In order to meet the operational performance targets of the airport, Logplan is currently providing coordination of all involved airport departments, service providers and airlines.

Planning and Simulation of Passenger Security Check-Point

2005 - 2007

Frankfurt International Airport With changes being made in EU regulation on aviation security, Lufthansa contracted Logplan to determine options for improving the throughput and the flexibility of passenger and carry-on baggage screening while maintaining a high level of security. Logplan evaluated several screening check-point designs through the use of advanced simulation models and provided its recommendations to Lufthansa, Fraport and the German Federal Police.

Based on Logplan's evaluation, one screening design was selected to undergo operational testing at Frankfurt International Airport. Together with Lufthansa and Fraport, Logplan conducted the evaluation of operations and screening procedures. Logplan delivered a comprehensive report to the German Ministry of the Interior on the security check-point concept. The concept has been approved for use by the Ministry for implementation at all security check-points at Frankfurt International Airport.

Baggage Cart Study

2003

Baggage Carts Logplan performed an evaluation study for an optimized baggage cart management system at Frankfurt International Airport. The study included a benchmarking of other international airports and the evaluation of five different concepts. The study was requested by Fraport in order to reduce its high operating costs due to the personnel needed for the current trolley management system.
