In 2003, Logplan began work with Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) for the implementation of a people mover
system for the new Terminal 3 expansion project. Logplan was contracted to develop an APM concept that would ensure
operation for terminal processes. In addition to the conceptual design, Logplan provided the following tasks for the airport:
- Preliminary design;
- Preparation of tender documents;
- Bid evaluation;
- Support for the supplier selection.
As a part of this project, Logplan provided a complete people mover simulation to verify the possible concept variations of the system that will connect the concourses of the new Terminal 3 building to Terminals 1 and 2. Logplan's simulation enabled BCIA to decide on the best concept option for their system as well as verify the different alternatives that were proposed by potential suppliers of the system. Upon completion of the supplier selection, Logplan supported BCIA with the design review process.
