Denver International Airport (USA)

1994 - present

APM system at Denver International Airport The airport APM system at Denver International Airport (DIA) has been in operation since the airport's opening in 1994. Logplan began working with Denver on the APM system in 1995 to look for ways to increase system capacity to meet future demand requirements of the airport. Logplan supported Denver in obtaining new vehicles, a new radio system, and optimizing system operations. Since that time, Logplan has supported the airport through all major design, planning and construction work that has been performed on the APM system. This has included:

  • Development of a new People Mover Master Plan accommodating a 100 million passenger/year facility;
  • Design and project management of a maintenance facility extension which doubled the facilities capacity;
  • Development and project management of several train control system improvements to enhance train capacity and development of new contingency operating modes.

In 2001, Logplan also developed an advanced simulation tool for APM system optimization and failure mode planning. This tool was programmed by Logplan to enable Denver to more efficiently organize its current system as well as prepare capacity optimization plans for possible future system expansion. The tool provides Denver with the ability to view the effects of failure mode operations on the system during emergency situations and passenger flow on station platforms.

Logplan serves as part of the Denver Master Plan Team led by Ricondo & Associates, Logplan is also providing the long term APM planning for this fast growing airport.
