Frankfurt International Airport (Germany)
2000 - present
From 2000 to 2003, Logplan was contracted to prepare the preliminary and conceptual planning of the APM system expansion
at Frankfurt Airport for the connection of the future Terminal 3 building to the existing transit facilities. Work performed
during that period included concept study and evaluation of the feasible APM solutions, preliminary design of the APM with
evaluation of feasible maintenance options, preparation of the official report on the project for the Public Approval Process.
From 2003 until 2004, Logplan provided its services for station and operations optimization. In 2005 Logplan was contracted to perform a 'make or buy' analysis for the operation and maintenance of the APM system as well as an adjustment of the existing operation and maintenance contract.
Currently Logplan provides support to Fraport in various projects to maintain and enhance the systems operation.
1987 - 1998
Beginning in 1987 at Frankfurt airport, Logplan planned and developed the layout of the people mover system. This included: the operational
concepts, technical system requirements, and technical specifications that were used for all tender documents related to the APM system.
A magnetic levitated system was originally envisioned for the project, however due to technology problems a mid-project technology change
to a rubber tire automated guided transit system was implemented.
Logplan provided project management of the system until the successful completion of this project in 1997. Logplan also managed the certification of the system which was the first stringent German certification of an automated people mover system with completely computerized safety functions.
