Frankfurt International Airport (Germany)
Optimized Passenger Screening Check-Point
2005 - 2006
With changes being made in EU regulation on aviation security, Lufthansa and Fraport contracted Logplan to determine
options for improving the throughput and the flexibility of passenger and carry-on baggage screening while maintaining
a high level of security. Logplan evaluated several screening check-point designs through the use of advanced simulation
models and provided its recommendations to Lufthansa and Fraport.
Based on Logplan's evaluation and recommendations, one screening design was selected to undergo operational testing at Frankfurt International Airport. Logplan has been providing assistance in the evaluation of operations and screening procedures and the associated cost benefit analysis. The security check-point concept is now approved by the German authorities and can be implemented at all security check-points at Frankfurt International Airport.
