Düsseldorf International Airport (Germany)
Passenger Process Optimization
2008 - 2009
Logplan was contracted by Düsseldorf International Airport to analyze all processes of its landside, terminal and airside infrastructure. The purpose was to identify existing and future bottlenecks and to suggest measures to mitigate them.
For identification of bottlenecks Logplan evaluated the passenger facilities in comparison to the IATA-Standard (Level of Service C), interviewed airport and airline personnel and conducted a survey among passengers. The identified bottlenecks were then analyzed and prioritized based upon the overall impact on the facilities. As a result Logplan provided recommendations for layout concepts and for optimization of the passenger processes.
As a part of the project Logplan developed a system of key performance indicators (KPI) that can enable the Airport to conduct regular benchmarking of the relevant passenger processes. The implementation of this KPI system will allow Düsseldorf International Airport to continuously improve its operation and monitor its success.
