Salzburg International Airport (Austria)
Redesign of Passenger Security Checkpoints
2006-2007
As a popular winter sports destination, Salzburg Airport has high traffic peaks during the winter season. To handle the peak demand of 1,000 passengers per hour, Logplan was contracted to redesign the passenger and hand-baggage screening area.
Based on a capacity analysis of the present configuration, Logplan developed a layout that was optimized for the passenger characteristics and the physical constraints of Terminal 1 at Salzburg Airport. The performance of the new system was tested using an advanced passenger flow simulation tool. In addition, Logplan conducted a cost-benefit analysis and prepared the report and the presentation to the Austrian authorities.
