Project Overview

A major airport expansion study with a projected cost of roughly $8.5 billion renovate the existing Terminal 2 to build a new “Global Terminal” with wider concourses and gates for the larger aircraft used in international flights.

If approved, this would be the biggest and most expensive reconstruction project in the airport’s 73-year history. The goal is to not only increase the number of international flights, but also create more room for domestic carriers, and reduce gridlock and delays.

Our team was tasked with developing a plan to safeguard the rights-of-way and functionality for a fully connected baggage handling system to support this development. This included both the inbound and outbound baggage systems as well as an integrated early baggage storage component.
