Project Overview
Glacier Park International Airport undertook an extensive terminal expansion project. The airport selected Mead & Hunt as the architect and they chose Logplan to provide the BHS design and construction administration work.
Part of this project was to work with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to support the development of a new inline Checked Baggage Inspection System (CBIS) utilizing Explosive Detection Systems (EDS). TSA provided the funding for the CBIS design and their portion of the BHS construction costs utilizing their other transaction agreement funding vehicle (OTA). The CBIS was designed and constructed in compliance with the TSA planning requirements as outlined in PGDS version 7.0.
The new inline CBIS will consolidate the three (3) decentralized standalone screening areas currently operating to one (1) centralized system. Consolidation of the existing screening operations will allow for automated transport of checked baggage to the EDS screening machines; thus, reducing the need for manual intervention of baggage. In addition, the TSA Checked Baggage Resolution Area (CBRA) will be consolidated to one area where TSA agents can inspect standard and out-of-gauge (OOG) baggage. The consolidation will result in more efficient utilization of TSA staff and equipment.
