Project Overview
In 2022, Hector International Airport began a terminal expansion project. Mead & Hunt selected Logplan as their BHS design consultant for the program. Logplan was tasked with expanding the baggage handling system (BHS) at FAR and designing a more efficient system to meet the demands of the airport's continued growth.
The BHS at FAR was calculated, sized, and designed to accommodate projected increases in enplanements. It was also developed to integrate seamlessly with the terminal and gate expansion.
The system was designed in a semi-integrated standalone layout as defined by the TSA. Bags are placed on two (2) ticket counter lines that merge on route to the screening machines. The system was designed for two (2) EDS machines with a future space allocated for another EDS machine and feed line. Once the bags are screened, they are fed and sorted onto two (2) flat plate make-up devices.
